Solar Survey Photo Checklist

Help us check if your home’s ready for solar ☀️

Top tip: Before you start, take all your photos first, so you can upload them all in one go. Watch our 2 minute video if you haven’t already.

We just need a few photos to see whether solar (and a battery, if you want one) will work for your home, and to design a system that fits your space and budget.

Having trouble? No stress, if taking photos feels tricky, just reply to our email and we’ll find another way to help you.

2 Your main roof (wide shot)

Please upload a wide-angle photo of the roof where you’d like solar panels installed, including the area around your home and the ground below.

This helps us understand where panels could go and how we’d safely access your roof.*

Top tip: take this from as far back as possible so that we can see the full roof and its surrounding area.

3 Your main roof (close-up)

Now upload a closer photo of the same roof, clearly showing the tiles.

This helps us choose the right fixings for your roof type.*

Top tip: Zooming in is fine - just please make sure the image is clear and well lit.

4 The other side of your roof

Please upload a wide-angle photo of the opposite side of your roof, again including the surrounding area and ground below.

This gives us a complete picture of your home’s layout.*

Top tip: similar to the first photo you took, but from the other side of the house.

5 Optional: extra photo of your home

If there’s another external wall or roof angle you think might be helpful - and it hasn’t been captured yet - you can add a photo here.

If you’ve already covered everything, feel free to skip this.

6 Optional: extra external angle

One last optional extra angle, if needed.

Multiple wide views help us spot anything that could affect installation or scaffolding.

If you’ve already covered everything, feel free to skip this.

7 Next up, are you interested in getting a home battery with your solar installation?*

This helps store excess solar energy generated during the day so that you can use it later. It can often help to reduce your monthly electricity bills further than just installing solar panels alone.

Don’t worry, our solar designers can help show you options with and without a battery so that you can make an informed decision about the right system for you!

7 Next, let us know where your electricity meter is located:*

9 Electricity meter (wide shot)

Please take a wide-angle photo showing your meter and its surroundings.

This helps us see how it’s positioned within or outside your home.*

Top tip: A photo with plenty of context is perfect.

11 Loft space

Last photo! Please head to your loft and take a wide-angle photo looking along the roof.

We’re mainly looking to see the rafters and roof structure, as this helps us plan cabling and installation.*

12 Roof condition

Finally, do you have any concerns about your roof that you'd like to make us aware of as we design and install your system? *

This might include issues like historic or current mould in certain areas, and damage or repairs that you may have had carried out or that are due to be completed in the near future.
